Basketball is such a rich part of the tradition of Indiana’s heritage that it’s appropriate that the state play host to a hall of fame honoring the sport. While the official Basketball Hall of Fame is located in Springfield, MA, where the game was invented, even its creator, James Naismith, recognized Indiana’s importance to the game after visiting the state in the 1920s.

Chris was hired by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in June of 2009 at the age of 26 as the Executive Director. Chris oversees the day-to-day operation of the organization and their 14,000 square foot museum in New Castle. Among leading many other roles, his key responsibilities include overseeing administration, development, event, museum and facility management and marketing, all while serving as the face and key representative of the organization.
In 1962, Wagner and Vandivier were among the five charter members inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. John Gant was inducted five years later in 1967 and Burl Friddle (half brother of Carlyle Friddle) in 1969. Vandivier was also enshrined in the Naismith Hall of Fame in 1975.

For a person to be inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor, they must have made "significant contributions to the game of basketball". Of the inaugural Hall of Fame class of 1959, seven individuals were inducted as contributors, including James Naismith, the inventor of basketball.
